Testing Cover:
Environmental surveillance is typically performed on surfaces by use of a sterile swab to recover organisms from surfaces.  Materials of surface collection are available such as cotton, gauze, sponges or wipe sampling devices. Sterile techniques was observed during sample collection, please contact staff for collect samples.

Organochlorine pesticides are chlorinated hydrocarbons used extensively form the 1940s through the 1960s in agriculture and mosquito control. Many organochlorine pesticides were banned in the United States, although a few are still registered for use in this country. Orgnaochlorine pesticides accumulate in the environment. They are very persistent and move long distances in surface runoff or groundwater.
